Hybrid Solar Electric Aircraft
Awarded US Patent No. 7,278,607B2 on Oct. 9, 2007.
(The USPTO allowed an outstanding total of nine out of 13 applied-for claims.)
Description:
The hybrid solar electric aircraft currently has patents pending status. This aircraft will have varying mass, which is the basis of its primary propulsion means.
It will have zero net-fuel usage and will have theoretically unlimited range and
flight time.
The hybrid solar electric aircraft would be ideal for long-term surveillance, having
virtually unlimited flight time available. The design is inherently low-observable,
so it will be desirable as a military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
This unit is unique
in that it uses Photovoltaic (PV) panels to electrolyze an on-board water supply into its
oxygen and hydrogen components.
